Perkebunan Nusantara V Riau http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/157
The key to the success of an organization is communication. Good communication is the communication that results in a common opinion among the perpetrators. Effective communication is important in organizations because it will make the organization grow and prosper. Organizational leader as communicator must be able to convey the intended messages to the communicants (employees). The message must be fully understood by employees. If the message is delivered properly, then the communicant will provide feedback to the expectations of communicators. This study aims to determine employee attitudes towards the effectiveness of communication in the office environment of Kebon Sei Berlian PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V Riau. The sampling technique was a total sampling of 60 respondents. Data collection was carried out through literature study and questionnaire distribution. This study uses the Multi Attribute Model (MAM) model to determine employee attitudes towards the effectiveness of communication in the Kebon Sei Berlian Office PT. Perkebunan Nusantara V Riau. The results showed that the attitude of employees towards the bulletin boards in the company environment was underutilized. Employees consider the success of communication that occurs between communicants and communicators. So far, the information conveyed by employees to superiors and coworkers has not experienced problems so that communication is well established.
Fauzia Agustini, Dita Amanah, Emilia Ramadhani, Dedy Ansari Harahap ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/157 ث, 30 أبر 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Challenges and Opportunities of Media Education in The State Universities in Sri Lanka http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/185
Media education was introduced to the Sri Lankan university education in 1973. But the undergraduates in mass Communication/media studies are struggling to find job opportunities in the media industry. Therefore, the main issue is that the undergraduates are not updated with the industrial and practical knowledge. In this context, the purpose of the study is to examine the challenges and opportunities in media education at the state universities in Sri Lanka by using Technological pedagogical content knowledge framework (TPACK) model. The Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and the in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data of the study. The results show that there are some challenges and opportunities in curriculum, teaching methods, assessments, technologies related to media education. The opportunities in media education are indroducing several special degree programmes in mass communication/media studies by the newly established media/communication departments, covering a wide range of areas in communication discipline in the curriculum, introducing some resources and infrastructural facilities to facilitate the undergraduates etc. On the other hand, limited expansion of the discipline of mass communication/ mass media within the university system, limited post graduate studies, most of the courses in Sinhala and Tamil, heavily concentrated on theoretical aspects in the curriculum and assessments, non-availability of the text books, media instruments and tools, teachers without professional practice, training and research, non- availability of opportunities in the media industry etc. are the main challenges in the media education in Sri Lanka. Therefore, the state universities should take necessary actions to address the challenges in media education specially to cater to the requirements and needs of the media industry in Sri Lanka.
Galagedarage Thushari Madhubhashini ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/185 ث, 30 أبر 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Penilaian Kurikulum Bahasa Jepun Berpandukan Standard Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) di Universiti Malaysia Kelantan http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/245
This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Japanese as a Third Language curriculum at University Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). This study has utilised the CIPP Evaluation Model which involved context, input, process and product. The study sample was consisting of 145 third semester students who took Japanese language course. This study has employed a questionnaire as an instrument to assess the context, input, process and product dimensions. The statistics used in this study involved frequency score, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The results of the study show that the implementation of the Japanese Language curriculum based on the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) standard as a Third Language at UMK is at a high level when all four of the study’s objectives have obtained a high mean value (4.63). Therefore, the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development initiative to introduce this course at UMK is a very appropriate action, producing students who have soft skills and are able to master foreign language for their preparation in the working world later. This is in line with the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2013-2025 which emphasizes on the mastery of foreign languages as an added value to every student in Malaysian higher education institutions which can be considered as one of the steps in improving Malaysia's education brand globally.
Nurul Fatihah Hanapi, Yasmin See, Wan Yusoff Wan Shaharuddin, Tg. Popular culture, which is also known as mass culture or pop culture, refers to collection of behaviours, values, and artefacts that are dominant or predominant in a society at a given time. This includes popular music, print, cyber culture, sports, entertainment, leisure, fads, advertising and television. Among the various genres, popular music represents a type of popular culture that has strong appealing power. The death of George Floyd has triggered the Black Lives Matter movement not only in the US but also elsewhere in other parts of the world. The question is, is there any avenue where such an issue can be addressed ‘responsibly’ without silencing others under the pretext of sensitivity? Can language classrooms provide a conducive and safe environment to address this? Therefore, this study has two objectives; first is to establish and evaluate students’ general perception of the Black Lives Matter movement, racial discrimination experiences and interest in pop culture via Google Forms. Next, this paper also wishes to investigate the content of popular music whether they contain relatable and useful materials to address delicate issues like racial discrimination. Beyoncé’s “Black Parade” and Alicia Keys’, “A Perfect Way to Die” song lyrics are chosen for content analysis. Both the statistics and analysis can help one to understand what the respondents think, evaluate the nature, meanings and relationships of certain particular terms, themes, or concepts and design suitable learning activities for meaningful learning experience.
Wan Noorli Razali ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/254 ث, 30 أبر 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Exploring the Utilization of Indonesian Language Among International Students in Bilingual Education: An Analysis of Pedagogical and Cognitive Strategies http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/268
The present research examined the pedagogical and cognitive strategies employed by an Indonesian teacher to enhance the use of the Indonesian language among students in her bilingual class. The study was conducted within the framework of a linguistic ethnographic design. The researcher conducted an observation of the teacher's classroom, documenting observations through the use of field notes. The observation was guided by the framework established by Schwartz and Asli (2014). A semi-structured interview was administered to gather insights into the teacher's viewpoint and difficulties encountered while instructing her bilingual class. The predominant strategy utilized by the teacher was translanguaging within a sentence, with gesture being the subsequent technique most frequently employed. The utilization of a translation methodology was infrequently employed. Notwithstanding the implementation of pedagogical and cognitive methodologies, the educator faced two hindrances: (1) pupils who communicated in English instead of Indonesian and (2) challenges in allocating time.
Refa Lina Tiawati, Azman Bin Bidin, Suria Baba ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://103.101.244.124/journal/index.php/insaniah/article/view/268 ث, 30 أبر 2024 00:00:00 +0000
