Meningkatkan Kemahiran Bertutur Bahasa Arab Melalui Strategi Penguasaan Sebutan
Enhancing Arabic Speaking Skills Through Segmental and Suprasegmental Pronunciation Proficiency Strategies (SPS)
Abstract
Proper and precise pronunciation will increase the mastery of one's speaking skills. In the context of the Arabic speaking skill, inaccurate pronunciation will alter the meaning of the message which will result in inappropriate comprehension and interpretation of the message conveyed. Hence, the use of the Pronunciation Learning Strategy (PLS) should be given due attention by students and teachers in the process of teaching and learning. While the study of Arabic Language Learning Strategies (ALLS) in Malaysia is seen as evolving, however, studies on the Arabic Pronunciation Learning Strategy (APLS), are still under consideration. This paper will discuss qualitatively based on literature review on some Arabic speaking issues faced by Arabic learners in Malaysia, the basics of improving Arabic speaking skills and challenges in mastering the language. This study found that the mastery of the Arabic speaking skill begins with the mastery of pronunciation that includes segmental and suprasegmental features. However not all learners are able to master the pronunciation in a short period of time. Therefore, the role of APLS in this context is vital and relevant. This is because the use of APLS will enable students to master Arabic speaking skills in an easier ways and nevertheless, will increase their level of confidence and motivation. As such, several APLS proposals are also presented for teachers and students to enhance their Arabic pronunciation in the teaching and learning process.

Sebutan yang betul dan jelas akan dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kemahiran bertutur seseorang. Dalam konteks bertutur bahasa Arab (BA), sebutan yang tidak tepat, akan menatijahkan kesilapan dalam penyampaian makna sesuatu perkataan yang akhirnya akan mengakibatkan mesej yang ingin disampaikan tersasar. Justeru, penggunaan Strategi Pembelajaran Sebutan (SPS) dalam proses pembelajaran dan pengajaran kemahiran bertutur BA perlu diberi perhatian sewajarnya oleh pelajar dan guru. Walaupun kajian mengenai Strategi Pembelajaran Bahasa (SPB) khususnya BA di Malaysia dilihat sedang berkembang, namun kajian mengenai Strategi Pembelajaran Sebutan BA (SPSBA) masih lagi kurang diberi perhatian. Kertas ini membincangkan secara kualitatif berdasarkan sorotan literatur mengenai beberapa masalah sebutan Arab yang dihadapi oleh pelajar BA di Malaysia, asas-asas dalam meningkatkan kemahiran bertutur BA serta cabaran dalam menguasainya. Kajian mendapati bahawa, penguasaan kemahiran bertutur BA bermula dengan penguasaan sebutan yang merangkumi ciri segmental dan suprasegmental. Walau bagaimanapun bukan semua pelajar dapat menguasai aspek sebutan dengan baik dan dalam waktu yang singkat. Oleh itu, peranan SPSBA dalam konteks ini sangat penting dan relevan. Hal ini demikian kerana, penggunaan SPSBA mampu memudahkan pelajar menguasai kemahiran bertutur dan mampu meningkatkan tahap keyakinan dan motivasi mereka. Lantaran tersebut, beberapa cadangan SPSBA juga dikemukakan untuk dimanfaatkan oleh para guru dan pelajar bagi meningkatkan penguasaan sebutan BA dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran.
