Kelantanese Dialect as the Self Catalyst of the Kelantan People: Sustainability and Empowerment
Abstract
Agenda pemerkasaan jati diri rakyat Kelantan berkait langsung dengan usaha melestarikan loghat Kelantan. Kertas ini menelusuri dua isu, iaitu status kelestarian loghat Kelantan; penggunaan dialek Kelantan dari aspek sebutan, pembentukan kata, ayat dan leksikal oleh penutur bukan Melayu, kesantunan berbahasa dalam dialek Kelantan dan seterusnya isu pemerkasaannya bagi agenda melonjakkan loghat Kelantan. Kandungan perbincangan didasarkan kepada beberapa kajian yang pernah dijalankan. Dialek unik ini dituturkan sama oleh penutur pelbagai etnik di Kelantan, dengan sebutan, perkataan dan pelbagai maksud yang berbeza dengan bahasa Melayu standard. Isunya, keunikan loghat Kelantan era kini hanya dilihat sebagai warisan yang perlu dipelihara dan pulihara sahaja. Faktor kemerosotan dan cadangan memartabatkan jati diri berpaksikan loghat klate perlu menjadi agenda semua warga Kelantan.
ABSTRACT
The agenda of empowering the Kelantanese people is directly related to the conservation of the Kelantanese dialect sustainability. This paper examines two issues: firstly, the status of Kelantanese dialect sustainability practically with regard to the use of Kelantanese dialect in terms of pronunciation, the formation of words, sentences and lexical by non-Malay speakers and language politeness in the Kelantanese dialect. Next, the issue of empowerment in the aggression agenda of the Kelantanese dialect is discussed. The content of the discussion is based on several studies that have been conducted. This unique dialect is spoken equally by multi-ethnic speakers in Kelantan, with different terms, words and meanings as compared to the standard Malay language. The issue is the uniqueness of the Kelantanese dialect is now only seen as a heritage that needs to be preserved and maintained. The decline and reserve factor of self-esteem to use the Kelantanese dialect should be the agenda of all Kelantanese.
